Volunteer Training

Building a strong, supportive church family is the absolute heartbeat of every vibrant and healthy congregation today. Community Chaplain Network offers an incredible volunteer training program specifically designed to empower your very own people. We offer professional training for your dedicated staff and members serving as compassionate chaplains to their friends and neighbors every day.

Your church congregation will thrive when it has a group of people who are trained to listen deeply. Trusted volunteers can step into the gaps when your senior pastor is overwhelmed with administrative or teaching duties. Having a fleet of chaplains means no one in your community ever has to walk through a crisis alone. Members feel seen and valued when a peer offers a prayer or a comforting word during a hospital visit. This volunteer training provides a dedicated place to capture insights and apply chaplaincy concepts directly to your context. “Memorable Moments” stories within the curriculum inspire students with true accounts of faith in action across the country.

Are you called to offer a listening ear in times of crisis? Do you have a heart for those navigating life’s most difficult transitions? This training is perfect for the local church with individuals that have a heart to serve in times of crisis.

Inspired by the profound insights of Jim Browning’s Heart of a Chaplain, our 12-week volunteer training program is designed to equip you with the emotional, spiritual, and practical tools needed to serve as a beacon of hope in your community.

Chaplaincy isn’t just about having the right answers; it’s about having the right heart. This program moves beyond theory, focusing on the “ministry of presence” that Browning advocates. Over three months, you will join a cohort of like-minded individuals to explore the core pillars of soul care.

  • The Art of Listening: Learning to hear what isn’t being said.
  • Crisis Intervention: Providing a calming presence in the midst of chaos.
  • Grief & Loss Support: Navigating the complex terrain of mourning with empathy.
  • Self-Care for the Caregiver: Protecting your own heart so you can continue to serve others.
  • Spiritual Diversity: Respectfully serving individuals of all faiths and backgrounds.

We believe that high-quality training should be accessible to those with a servant’s heart.
