A voluntary employee benefit
Someone your people can talk to, before it costs you a good employee.
A workplace chaplain is a benefit you offer your team the way you offer health coverage or supplemental insurance: available to everyone, used by whoever wants it, and nobody’s business but theirs. Yours visits on a regular schedule, learns your people by name, and stays reachable around the clock. Confidential. Never pushy about faith.
Where it fits
One more voluntary benefit on the shelf. This one has a person attached to it.
Why employers call us
Your best people are carrying something you never hear about.
A divorce. A parent on hospice. A kid in trouble. A diagnosis. It shows up as absenteeism, short tempers, mistakes on the line, and a two-week notice you did not see coming.
The conversation that happens before the resignation letter.
Most employers already offer an EAP. Most employees never use it. It is a phone number on a poster, and calling it feels like admitting something is wrong. A chaplain is a person your team already knows by name, who was in the break room last Tuesday, and who they can pull aside without filling out a thing.
- Turnover you cannot explain. Exit interviews say “personal reasons.” Replacing a skilled employee costs a meaningful share of their annual salary.
- Managers doing pastoral care badly. Supervisors get pulled into grief, addiction, and marriage problems they are not trained, or legally safe, to handle.
- A crisis with no plan. A death on the job, a workplace accident, a layoff round. Who walks the floor that afternoon?
- Benefits nobody uses. Utilization on a standard EAP typically sits in the low single digits. You are paying for a resource your team does not touch.
The work itself
What a workplace chaplain actually does
Not a sermon. Not a counselor’s office. A trained, credentialed caregiver who shows up on a set schedule and stays available in between.
Regular on-site rounds
Your chaplain walks the floor on an agreed schedule: weekly, biweekly, or monthly. Presence first. Trust comes from being a familiar face, not from a hotline.
Confidential one-on-one care
Stress, grief, marriage strain, money worry, addiction, faith questions. What an employee shares stays with the chaplain. You get participation counts, never names or details.
Life events, on and off the clock
Hospital visits, funerals, weddings, new babies, a call at 2am. Chaplains are reachable 24/7 for the things that do not wait for business hours.
Crisis response
A death, an accident, a layoff, a hurricane. Your chaplain is on site to steady the team and coach leadership through what to say and when.
Support for HR and supervisors
A place to send an employee who needs more than a policy answer, and a sounding board for managers who do not want to overstep.
Referral, not treatment
Chaplains are trained to recognize when someone needs clinical care and to hand them off to your EAP, a licensed counselor, or emergency services.
Clearing the air
What this is, and what it isn’t
Every employer asks some version of the same question: “Is this going to make my non-religious employees uncomfortable?” Here is the straight answer.
| The question | Where we stand |
|---|---|
| Do chaplains evangelize or push a faith? | No. Our chaplains serve everyone, every faith and no faith. They follow the employee’s lead. Care is never conditional on belief, and there is no invitation to a church attached. |
| Is participation required? | No. Fully voluntary, always. Employees can talk, wave, or ignore the chaplain entirely with no consequence. |
| Will management hear what employees say? | No. Conversations are confidential. You receive aggregate contact counts for your records. Never names, never content. |
| How does this sit in our benefits stack? | Like any voluntary benefit. You offer it; each employee decides whether to use it, the same way they decide about supplemental coverage. No enrollment, no census, no participation reporting. |
| Does this replace our EAP or health plan? | No. It sits alongside them. Chaplains are the front door people actually walk through, and they refer into clinical care when that is what is needed. |
| Is this counseling or therapy? | No. Chaplains provide spiritual and emotional care, not clinical treatment. Ours train through Clinical Pastoral Education. Community Chaplain Network is an affiliate of Clinical Pastoral Education International (CPEI), which is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). |
| We are not in Florida. Can you still cover us? | Yes. We place a credentialed chaplain who lives in your market. If we do not have one there yet, we recruit and train one. Your people get a local face, not a call center. Multi-site employers get the same standard of care at every location. |
| Is it available to remote and off-shift staff? | Yes. In person on site, plus phone and video for remote, night shift, and field crews. |
How we reach you
A chaplain who lives where your people live
Most workplace-care programs scale by adding phone lines. We scale by adding chaplains.
The Chaplains Guild is our national network of chaplains, pastors, and counselors already serving across more than 25 states and internationally, organized into divisions that include marketplace chaplaincy, the discipline behind workplace care. If you have a site in a market where we already have someone, you meet them.
If you have a site somewhere we do not, we go find and train someone. That is not a workaround; it is the model. Community Chaplain Network is an affiliate of Clinical Pastoral Education International, and we run our own CPE programs under those standards, so we are not waiting for the right chaplain to turn up. We prepare them. It is also why a ten-site employer gets the same standard of care in Tulsa as in Tampa, coordinated as one program rather than ten local arrangements.
States, plus international
Where Guild chaplains already serve. Odds are we have someone near your people before you call.
Hours in a single CPE unit
300 hours of supervised clinical ministry practice plus 100 hours of structured learning: the training behind the person in your building.
Divisions of practice
Hospital, hospice, first responder, military, marketplace, pastoral, and counseling, so your chaplain is matched to your setting, not just your zip code.
Credentialing. Community Chaplain Network is an affiliate of Clinical Pastoral Education International (CPEI), which is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Getting started
A smooth, streamlined path from first call to first visit
A 30-minute call
Headcount, shifts, locations, what is going on with your team. No pitch deck. You will know by the end whether this fits.
A simple plan
We propose visit frequency, coverage hours, and a flat monthly rate. One page, no hidden fees.
Place your chaplain
If we already have a credentialed chaplain in your market, you meet them. If we do not, we recruit and train one who lives where your people live. Then a short intro to your team so nobody is surprised.
Rounds begin
Your chaplain starts visiting. You get a quarterly summary and a standing line to us. Cancel with 30 days notice.
Straightforward about money
One flat monthly fee, sized to your team
We quote after a short call, because a fifteen-person shop and a three-hundred-person plant need genuinely different things. What does not change is how the billing works: one predictable monthly number, and no invoice you did not expect.
What sets your rate
- How many employees you have
- How often your chaplain visits
- How many sites and shifts we cover
- Whether you need multi-site or field coverage
No extra charge, ever
- Hospital, hospice, and funeral visits
- 24/7 phone access for your employees
- On-site crisis response
- Your quarterly summary report
What you will never see
- Per-visit or per-conversation billing
- Setup or onboarding fees
- After-hours or emergency surcharges
- A long-term contract. Yours runs month to month
Most employers budget this the way they budget their other voluntary benefits. Community Chaplain Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so what you invest is a deductible business expense. Small teams and fellow nonprofits: tell us your situation. We work with you.
We will put a real number in front of you on a 30-minute call.
“Having their chaplains available to listen, encourage, and walk alongside our team through both personal and professional challenges has made a lasting impact on morale and overall well-being. It’s comforting to know our employees have a trusted, confidential resource who genuinely cares about them as individuals.”

Questions employers ask
Before you call
What if my employees aren’t religious?
Most conversations a chaplain has are not about religion at all. They are about a sick parent, a struggling marriage, money stress, or burnout. Chaplains are trained to meet people where they are and to follow the employee’s lead. Employees of any faith or no faith use the service.
What does it cost?
A flat monthly fee based on your headcount, how often your chaplain visits, and how many sites and shifts we cover. There is no per-visit billing, no setup fee, and no charge for hospital calls or crisis response. We will give you a real number on a 30-minute call. If it is not workable for your budget, say so and we will tell you honestly whether we can make it work.
How is this different from our EAP?
An EAP is a phone number an employee calls after something has already gone wrong. A chaplain is a person on your floor before it does. The two work well together. Chaplains refer into EAP and clinical care when a situation calls for it.
What do I actually get reported back to me?
A quarterly summary: number of visits, number of employee contacts, and themes at a level that never identifies anyone. No names, no content, ever.
We are not in Florida. Can you serve us?
Yes. We are based in Pensacola and we serve employers across the country. When you are outside a market where we already have a chaplain, we recruit and credential one who lives near your people, someone who can be in your building, at the hospital, and at the funeral, not someone on a phone line in another time zone.
That is also why multi-site employers work well with us: every location gets a local chaplain held to the same standard, coordinated as one program.
What is the commitment?
Month to month with 30 days notice. We would rather earn the next month than lock you into a year.
Next step
Thirty minutes. No pitch.
Tell us about your team and what has been hard lately. If chaplaincy is not the right fit, we will say so, and point you somewhere better.
